DOCUMENTATION 》 TOFFEE-DataCenter :: Optimized ISP backbone networks for countries with slowest Internet Speed

If you are an ISP and if you are located in one among the countries with slowest Internet speeds, then you can create optimized network tunnels via TOFFEE/TOFFEE-Datacenter. Here are the list of few countries with slowest Internet speed:

  • Bolivia
  • Nigeria
  • Libya
  • Kazakhstan
  • Syria
  • Iran
  • Mexico
  • Paraguay
  • and so on.

For example here is TOFFEE-DataCenter (or TOFFEE) optimized ISP networks(tunnels) between countries. In this case there is an ISP in Libya having slow backbone Internet, hence he can establish a TOFFEE based optimized tunnel between Romania Data-center (having high-speed internet) and Libya. Similarly there is another ISP in Argentina is able to boost his backbone Internet services by establishing a tunnel between his ISP and US West-Coast (California) Data-center.

ISPs can also build multiple TOFFEE optimized tunnels for redundancy, load-share, etc. And in this case the ISP in Argentina established two tunnels. One between Argentina ISP to US West-Coast (California) Data-center and the other between Argentina ISP Romania Data-center as shown below.

TOFFEE-Mocha is my dream project which I thought working on it since several years. I want to make a WAN emulation software which is straight forward and simple to use. I used tc scripts along with iptables for testing my TOFFEE (and TrafficSqueezer before TOFFEE) and I am not quite satisfied with the same. As one can understand these scripts are not meant for WAN emulation.

It is quite interesting that there are few web hosting firms are offering direct CDN based hosting services. Since it is a direct CDN based hosting, it is cheap, extremely easy or transparent CDN service. It is transparent, since each time you publish your content in the hosting web-server (origin server), it is immediately is in sync automatically in the user-serving CDN caching machines. Since the hosting vendor and the CDN vendor are all the same, it is also easy to use their services. There is no incompatibility issues, interoperability issues, and better integrated analytics, are all the benefits of CDN Hosting services.

Ever since after I launched my new The TOFFEE Project website on 1-May'2016, I can see there is a steep increase in traffic. Soon after the launch when I monitored its Alexa rankings it was reporting about 12 Million or so. But once it is getting more and more traffic the Alexa rankings shot up and now currently it shows around 2 Million (as on 22-July-2016). Alexa is an excellent tool to monitor your overall website global ranking and indirectly its performance. Unlike Google Analytics which is bound one or other way into Google's SEO. Alexa gives you a second opinion about your website's growth.

I started working on the new TOFFEE project (which is the fork of my earlier TrafficSqueezer open-source project) starting from 1st January 2016 onwards. Ever since I was busy in research and altering certain old features so that it is more minimal than TrafficSqueezer, a more focused agenda, deliver refined code and a broader vision. I have lined up more things to follow in the upcoming months. I want to focus about all aspects of WAN communication technologies not just on core WAN Optimization research and technology.

Here is the TOFFEE WAN Optimization benchmarks of the TOFFEE version: TOFFEE-1.1.28. This is the current TOFFEE development version till date (2-Jul-2016). This is a HPC TOFFEE variant meant for high-end custom build servers and high-end desktops (i.e High Performance Computing a.k.a HPC). TOFFEE built this way often needs customized kernel compilation and build such as processor specific and hardware specific tune-ups since it is highly CPU intensive (if not offloaded via Hardware Accelerator Cards).
