NOTE: If you are looking TOFFEE-Mocha WAN Emulator for Intel x86_64 platform, you can find it HERE.

Here is my VLOG Youtube video of the same which includes details about version release notes, future road-map and so on.

Software Development Updates corresponds to this TOFFEE-Mocha release version:

User Guide (Documentation)
The TOFFEE-Mocha release is highly optimized and customized for Raspberry Pi 2/3 hardware platform. TOFFEE-Mocha for Raspberry Pi2/3 is built within the standard Raspberry Pi Raspbian Operating System (version: 2016-05-27-raspbian-jessie.img).

NOTE: For more details regarding TOFFEE-Mocha hardware test setup and deployment kindly refer: TOFFEE-Mocha WAN emulator Lab deployment and topology guide

NOTE: For more details regarding TOFFEE-Mocha test-cases and test-results kindly refer: TEST CASES :: TEST RESULTS :: Raspberry Pi WAN Emulator TOFFEE-Mocha-1.0.14-1-rpi2

Installation Unlike the x86_64 version, TOFFEE-Mocha Raspberry Pi version is a complete disk image of Raspberry Pi Raspbian OS in which TOFFEE-Mocha is ported, built and pre-installed. You can download the binary (the install image above), un-tar it and install on a microSD card which is around larger than or equal to 8GB capacity. Since this is the size of the microSD card upon which I built the TOFFEE-Mocha image.

If you are new using Raspberry Pi hardware, you can follow the standard official Raspberry Pi guide: Installing operating system images

If you are using a Linux system you can do via dd command as shown below. Assume in this case the empty microSD card is "/dev/sdc"

kiran@desktop-i7-5820k:~$ sudo dd bs=4M if=TOFFEE-Mocha-1.0.14-1-rpi2.img conv=sync,noerror of=/dev/sdc

Hardware: Additional NIC Card Installation You can use a USB2 to 100Mbps NIC card so that you can get totally two network ports as shown below. Once it is installed you can check by booting the Raspbian OS and confirm via ifconfig command.

Configuration Configuration of TOFFEE-Mocha Raspberry Pi version is as same as x86_64 version, you can refer the Configuration section of the TOFFEE-Mocha-1.0.14-1-x86_64 Documentation.

TOFFEE-Mocha WAN Emulation software development - Update: 19-July-2016 ↗
Saturday' 13-Mar-2021
Today I refined the first page consolidated report graphs. TOFFEE-Mocha (unlike TOFFEE) is a WAN Emulator, so the graphs are supposed to highlight this purpose and should display the overall network activity. Unlike TOFFEE, the TOFFEE-Mocha report should contain in general what is received versus what is sent across the wire. In case if the packet drop feature is enabled, you should see few missing bytes and packets. Similarly in future I may support packet duplication feature, in that case you may see more packets/bytes sent versus the packets/bytes actually received.

TOFFEE Optimized Satellite ISP Network: TOFFEE/TOFFEE-DataCenter can be used to optimize Satellite Networks (Satellite based Internet Networks, VoIP, Data, private leased-links) as shown. Ground station transponders can be connected via array of TOFFEE Devices and in the remote CPE can have dedicated or inbuilt TOFFEE with which you can establish a WAN Optimized Satellite Network Tunnel as shown.

The TOFFEE Project :: TOFFEE-Butterscotch :: Save and Optimize your Internet/WAN bandwidth ↗
Saturday' 13-Mar-2021
TOFFEE-Butterscotch is an open-source software which can be used to save and optimize your Internet/WAN bandwidth. Unlike TOFFEE (and TOFFEE-DataCenter) TOFFEE-Butterscotch is a non peer-to-peer (and asymmetric) network optimization solution. This makes TOFFEE-Butterscotch an ideal tool for all Home and SOHO users.

Building my own CDN - choosing a web-hosting to deploy my CDN - Update: 28-July-2016 ↗
Saturday' 13-Mar-2021
The TOFFEE Project website is hosted on Inmotion Hosting. And so I am looking for alternate hosting provider to build my first CDN node. My plan is to make multiple sub-domains of my website such as cdn1.the-toffee-project.org, cdn2.the-toffee-project.org and point each of this corresponding subdomain(s) to various alternative web hosting servers geographically spread across the world. Sometimes choosing the same vendor for multiple CDN nodes may result multiple servers existing in the data-center. And this becomes an issue if there is some catastrophic network disaster.

TOFFEE-Mocha WAN Emulation software development - Update: 15-July-2016 ↗
Saturday' 13-Mar-2021
Today I completed doing all the changes which are meant for the new upcoming TOFFEE-Mocha release. I have increased the resolution and the range of all factor variables. Instead 1 to 10 range now they have a range of 1 to 30. Unlike before the value 1 means it is lot more intense (or in some cases less intense) and the uppermost value 30 means lot less intense (or in some cases lot intense).

Off-Grid Solar Power System for Raspberry Pi ↗
Saturday' 13-Mar-2021
When you choose to use your Raspberry Pi device as your IoT based remote weather station or if you are building Linux kernel (like kernel compilation) within the same, you need a good uninterrupted power source (UPS). But if you are using it on site or in some research camping location you can choose to power your Raspberry Pi device with your custom off-grid solar power source.

Now I supported and finished complete GUI support of these parameters so that you can configure, store, reboot and the same will restore upon reboot. Besides I complete the TOFFEE-Mocha Big-Picture page. The Big picture is an interface where you can find all the configuration (or settings) of the TOFFEE-Mocha. This is almost similar to CISCO device show all command but in graphical representation. Sometimes a network admin can also print the Big Picture page and paste it near to the device to refer its settings.

Here is a step-by-step DIY to build your own Intel based Mini PC WAN Optimization Device with TOFFEE. I chose this below Intel Celeron Mini PC since it is fan-less aluminium case and as well it has 2 dedicated inbuilt Gigabit Ethernet ports. You can use one for LAN Network and one for WAN Network.

Here is my home lab monthly power-consumption readings for research. This will help to measure and monitor the overall power usage and assess the power requirements. This will help me in future purchases such as UPS, battery upgrades and so on. And as well remove replace old obsolete hardware with new less power-consuming devices.

Building my own CDN - Google PageSpeed Insights - Update: 22-Jul-2016 ↗
Saturday' 13-Mar-2021
Ever since after I launched my new The TOFFEE Project website on 1-May'2016, I can see there is a steep increase in traffic. Soon after the launch when I monitored its Alexa rankings it was reporting about 12 Million or so. But once it is getting more and more traffic the Alexa rankings shot up and now currently it shows around 2 Million (as on 22-July-2016). Alexa is an excellent tool to monitor your overall website global ranking and indirectly its performance. Unlike Google Analytics which is bound one or other way into Google's SEO. Alexa gives you a second opinion about your website's growth.
